Article 11
On the Custos or Guardian who must be sent to the General Chapter on behalf of the other Custodes or Guardians
Regarding what is stated in the Rule that, if the Minister General should die, the Provincial Ministers and the Custodes shall elect a Successor at the Pentecost Chapter; the Brothers are uncertain whether it is necessary for all the Custodes to go to the General Chapter, or if it would suffice, in order to reduce inconvenience, that a few from each Province attend who would carry the voice of the others.
We answer this by saying that the Custodes of each Province must choose one among themselves, who will represent them and carry their voice to the Chapter together with the Provincial Minister.
And since they have already arranged it in this manner themselves, we have judged that this statute should be approved, which is in accordance with the answer said to have been given by our Predecessor Gregory IX on this subject.
